The difference between movable casters and fixed casters

Time:May 30,2022

Caster wheels are divided into two main categories: fixed casters and swivel casters. However, we occasionally hear you discussing movable casters. So what are movable casters, and what is the difference between movable casters and fixed casters?
  1. The difference in flexible turning.
Movable casters: Flexible turning within a plane. It is worth noting that the turning radius differs from that of braking turns, as well as from side braking and dual braking turning radii.
Fixed casters: Only move forward and backward.
  2. The difference in the stability of linear motion systems.
Active users: When walking quickly, it is easy to change direction, leading to unstable linear motion and difficulty in control.
Fixed casters: Fast walking speed, difficult to change direction, as the left and right directions are locked, allowing only forward or backward movement.
  3. The difference in surface flatness requirements.
Movable casters: Suitable for flat surfaces, typically used indoors.
Fixed casters: Can adapt to a certain degree of uneven surfaces, suitable for outdoor use.
  4. The difference in cost.
Movable casters: The same model of movable casters often has a higher cost than fixed casters due to their more complex design and stronger functionality.
Fixed casters: Relatively inexpensive. If there are no special requirements, fixed casters can be chosen, but typically movable casters will be used alongside fixed casters.
In summary, movable casters and fixed casters are different. The above four points highlight their commonalities, but do not indicate which type of caster is better. In many cases, they need to be used together.
