How to extend the lifespan of heavy-duty casters?
Time:May 30,2022
1. Wheels
Visually inspect the wheels for wear. Poor wheel rotation is related to debris such as fine red threads and ropes. Anti-winding covers can prevent these debris from tangling. The looseness or tightness of heavy-duty casters is another factor. Replace damaged wheels/heavy-duty casters to avoid unstable rotation. After checking and replacing the wheels, ensure that the wheel axle is tightened with lock washers and nuts. Loose axles can cause the wheel width to rub against the bracket. Replacement wheels and bearings should be provided to avoid production losses.
2. Heavy-duty casters
If the steering of student activities is too loose, it must be replaced immediately. If the center rivet of the heavy-duty caster is not secured with a nut, ensure it is tightly locked. If the steering system cannot achieve freedom and rotation, check for corrosion or dirt at the ball bearings. If a fixed heavy-duty caster is assembled, ensure that the heavy-duty caster bracket is not bent.
3. Lubrication
Regular lubricating oil, wheels, and moving bearings can be used for a long time. Apply grease to the wheel axle, seals, and roller bearings to reduce friction and make rotation more flexible. Generally, lubricate every six months. Wheels should be lubricated after cleaning each month.
4. Brackets and fasteners
Tighten loose axles and nuts, and check for damage to welds or support plates. Overloading or collisions can cause the bracket to warp. Warped supports allow heavy loads to tilt relative to a single wheel, leading to premature wheel damage. For snap-on heavy-duty casters, tighten the nuts or rivets to ensure the equipment mounting bracket is not bent and that the snap-on installation is correct. When installing heavy-duty casters, use lock nuts or lock washers. The installation of expansion rod-type heavy-duty casters should ensure that the rod is securely installed in the sleeve.
5. Overloading
Overloading is the main reason for the short lifespan of heavy-duty casting machines, as it can cause deformation of the heavy-duty casting machine support frame, affecting the trajectory of the steel balls. Therefore, try to avoid overloading heavy-duty casters and make better use of them within their usage range.
6. Use different wheels in different places.
Select heavy-duty casters made of different materials for different usage locations in enterprises, as different materials have different physical and chemical technical properties. The different materials of heavy-duty casters require different environments for use, and of course, the lifespan of heavy-duty casters will also vary. To avoid such research situations, it is necessary to use the product design instructions provided by the manufacturer.
