What are the aspects of caster wheel maintenance?

Time:Aug 02,2022

1. Bracket Maintenance: If the swivel is too loose, it must be replaced immediately. If the center rivet of the caster is fixed with a nut, ensure it is securely tightened. If the swivel cannot rotate freely, check for corrosion or dirt at the ball bearings. If fixed casters are installed, ensure that the caster bracket is not bent.

2. Wheel Maintenance: Check the wear condition of the wheels. Poor wheel rotation is related to debris such as threads and ropes. A protective cover can effectively prevent these debris from tangling. Overly loose or tight casters are another factor; replace damaged wheels to avoid unstable rotation. After checking and replacing the wheels, ensure to tighten the wheel axle with locking washers and nuts. Loose axles can cause friction between the wheel rim and the bracket, leading to jamming, so keep spare wheels and bearings on hand to avoid production losses.

3. Lubrication Maintenance: Regularly add lubricant to ensure the wheels and moving bearings can be used normally for a long time. Applying grease to the wheel axle, inside the sealing ring, and the friction points of the roller bearings can reduce friction and make rotation smoother.

4. Bracket and Fastener Inspection: Tighten loose wheel axles and nuts, and check for damage to welds or support plates. Overloading or impact can cause the bracket to warp, leading to uneven loading on individual wheels and premature wheel damage. For pin-type casters, tighten the nuts or secure them with rivets, and ensure that the equipment installation bracket is not bent and that the pin is installed correctly. When installing casters, use locking nuts or anti-loosening washers. For expansion pin-type casters, ensure the pin is securely installed within the sleeve.
